Just Because You Are "Big", It Doesn't Mean You Have To Wear THAT

I would really like to know why some people think that because they've gained an enormous amount of weight, that they have to start dressing...like that up there.

Because you gain weight you have to lose your fashion sense? No...no you don't. And if you are one of those people who choose to lose their fashion sense because you don't think they "make cute stuff in your size", you DEFINITELY aren't allowed to comment on the fashion sense of others.

BEING BIG DOES NOT RESERVE YOU A RIGHT TO BE BOOTSY.

I used to have a friend....big as an Orca whale but she still dressed nice. As a matter of fact, most of her wardrobe came from Bloomingdales...yes azzholes, Bloomingdales does have PLUS SIZE clothing. So in my mind, if she could still manage to keep her appearance in check with the times, ANYONE can. At her biggest, I believe she was somewhere between a 24 and 28. STILL...dressed nice. So if you're walking around with a tent on because "that's all you could find in your size", I'm here to tell you that you're a damn liar. It might be the only thing YOU can afford but that aint the ONLY thing available for purchase.

The thing about being hefty is when you dress bad, you actually draw more attention to how big you actually are. Simply wear clothes that are your size and made well and you can still manage to look decent. Put on a moo moo and you'll most certainly look like the cow size you are. I'm just saying...this isn't a blog to clown people who aren't thin. On the contrary...I was recently afflicted with a growth that will inevitably cause me to gain a lot of weight and there is nothing I can do about THAT....but I can do something about my fashion...and that is, not let my size dictate how fly I can or can't dress.

big as an orca whale??? LMAO You better not let her read this shit! lol But it is true, just because you're a big girl doesn't mean you can't look great. I have a friend who is and she's always cute, I stay my ass in layne bryant, nordstroms bloomies etc with her b/c she refuses to look a hot mess b/c she isn't small. That pic of homer is soooo funny. You're a mess

You better pay attention! I said "I used to have a friend"...meaning, we aint friends no more. I would NEVER call my friend nothing like that in a blog...even if I was thinking it. I aint that rude LOL

She would never be caught in a moo moo..she don't even sleep in them. She said it cuts her sexy down...and it's true LOL

Yeah, I breezed right passed the 'used to' lol whatever-i was reading and eating cookies, I gets confused when I multi-task! Lol

Orcas can have style lol

OUCH! LMAO! I am a big girl... probably around the same size as your ex-friend "willy".....

You're right though, there are cute clothes that come in our sizes. Lane Bryant has very cute clothes... and they're well made... Some people just don't care about fashion... lol

I am one of THOSE folks... I know how to dress... can do it when necessary... but i just dont. (now, I don't wear "moo-moo's" either... but I dress for COMFORT...and if it's cute...then it is...lol)

To be honest, I see ALOT of skinny/midsized broads that dress like trash. Just because they DO! To me, there's NO EXCUSE for that because they can walk into almost ANY store ( except Lane Bryant... lol) and grab something or put together a cute fit...

Homer's ROCKIN' that moo moo too... and I LOVE how he's accessorized (sp?) lol...

It doesn't matter anyway. No love is no love.

I'm mad that I googled Orca to see a picture of how big it was.
How about the big-uns that dress TOO SMALL for their size?? *dies*

curvygurl said...

Jae's right, there's no excuse, there are clothes to fit mostly all sizes. I guess if u don't give a damn that's a diff story altogether.

Strangely people of all sizes think that super baggy clothes camouflage problem areas, but like you said , it only makes you look bigger. You have to wear clothes with structure that create a shape for you (I watch "What Not to Wear" a lot, lol)

No. 5: girl scout cookies will do that to yah! LOL

Milly: thanks!

Jaycee: Homer is a clown and that outfit he has on confirms such LOL

BossMack: I know Orcas can have style...the old homie always stayed fly LOL

JaeSpenc: See the difference between you and some people is that they are in denial and have convinced themselves that they can't dress cute because they aren't a size 6 or 8. You and I both know that ain't the damn truth. And yes, there are skinny heffas walking around looking a hot mess too but that's just because they had no fashion sense to begin with, not because they don't think there are fashionable clothes in their size LOL

You can still be cute and dress for COMFORT. I do it ALL the time! LOL

Genius: shutcho rude tail up LOL

Kryssy: I don't think some people REALLY know how big Orca whales are...sharks are even afraid of them joints. You know there is a movie called Orca? One of my favs as a kid...killer whale goes on a rampage just f*ckin folks up LOL

ANYONE who dresses bad gets a thumbs down in my book...whether they are thin wearing something too small or big wearing something too small. Why can't folks just wear THEIR size clothing and call it a damn day??? LOL

curvygirl: yes there are those who genuinely just don't care that they look a hot mess...and for them, they deserve every bit of someone laughing at them

Alise: you are absolutely correct! when I was younger and about a size 8, I figured dressing in baggy pants and XL shirts would hide my "figure". I was ashamed of my butt when I was younger. I just made myself look HUGE. When I did shed all them clothes, it looked like I had lost an entire person. I had so many people shocked and confused cause they had no idea I was the size I was. I was an idiot. LOL

LMAO@ big as an orca! That was awesome. I see big fly women all the time. My best friend is huge (about a 28, although I think she's gained weight in the past 3 years) and she looks really cute when she fixes herself up. So yeah there's no excuse for women wrapped in the sheers from the dining room.

Orca whale...lmao...You ol "build you up just so I can personally tear you down..." lol. Nah but that's real talk. Being "Hefty" doesn't mean you gotta rock garbage.

A big person with style looks more confident than a skinny person dressed to the nines. Real talk.

Hey there!

I think that many women who gain excessive amounts of weight are unhappy with their body type and start trying to hide whatever they perceive are "flaws" (belly, bulges) and that leaves them with limited options in fashions if they are still trying to shop at the "slender girls" stores...

I think that many women feel that if they can't fetishize their bodies then they may as well give up on their looks completely. This reflects a mentality that the sex pot look is THE ONLY look to aspire to...

I think we need to just continue to show our sistas other examples. I am glad that Michelle Obama has not put on any booty dresses, booty skirts or show-all-my-curves pants. She is interested in being viewed as a classy and elegant first lady...not a video, drop-it-like-it's-hot chick on the side.

I am thankful for that!

Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!

They probably don't feel confident enough to spend money on nice gear.

I think its more of a confidence (why try?) thing than anything else.

Kofi: I agree, SOME people aren't confident enough to spend money on gear but that's not always the case :)
